Getting started with rcordr
rcordr is a simple tool for recording and tracking the measures you believe matter, day by day. You decide what's worth tracking, log it as you go, and step back regularly to see whether you're moving in the right direction.
The core loop
rcordr works in a loop:
- Set an objective — something you're working toward this quarter, month, or year.
- Attach measures — the numbers and habits that tell you whether you're getting there.
- Record day by day — log values from the Today tab as life happens.
- Review — every so often, look back at the trend and decide what to change.
That's it. Objectives give the "why," measures give the evidence, recording is the daily habit, and reviews close the loop.
Set up your first objective
- Go to Objectives and create one — give it a title (e.g. "Get fitter") and, if you like, a period (this quarter, this month).
- Add a measure to it — say "Weight" or "Runs per week" — and choose whether it's a Key Result (something you're aiming at with a target) or just a supporting indicator.
- Open the Today tab and start recording. rcordr shows you what still needs logging for the day.
Where to go next
- Objectives & Key Results — how objectives are structured and what a Key Result is.
- Measures — the different kinds of measures and how to record them.
- Habits & Actions — recurring behaviours vs one-off tasks.
- Reviews — the weekly review loop.
